new to electric flying. looking into buying a charger/balancer and would like a little help deciding what to get. Would like to be able to charge 4 3c 2200 mah batteries at a time. do,i get a 50w or a the 100w for a little more money. would like to hear what unit you are using or suggest what unit i should be looking at. also do certain brands have extra features that make them better units. would appreciate hearing from you.

I don't have a multi-battery charger as I have 3 individual chargers. If you don't want to be disappointed later I would go with the 100w charger.

Does the 100w charge batteries in less time.

All depends, if you are charging at 1C the formula for a 3 cell 2200mah battery is 11.1 volts X 2.2 amps = 24.24 watts. If you are going to do 4 batteries at a time you will need 100 watts of power. If you are charging at 2C the formula is 11.1 volts X 4.4 amps = 48.84 watts. If you charge four batteries at a time you will need 200 watts of power. I would recommend only charging at 1C but a lot of batteries say you can charge at much higher c ratings. The real kicker is the day you get a really cool plane that uses a 4 cell 5000mah battery. Then the formula is 14.8 volts X 5 amps = 74 watts for each battery. Four batteries = 296 watts. Hope this helps. I have a few 6 cell 5000mah batteries...22.2 volts X 5 = 111 watts. I hope this made some sense. Will be happy to talk more about this at the field. This may also help - rogershobbycenter.com/lipoguide/

Thanks denis Been talking to other people about batteries and charging them. they have explained it as you have, but seeing it in print just makes it easier to understand and maybe retain. definitly would like to discuss it more before i make any purchase. thanks again
